i have suffered really bad acne for the last few years now and it has been getting worse and worse. i have been prescribed Tetralysal which i have taken for the past year to no effect and more recently Retin-A which just burns my skin. I am seeing the doctor again in a few days so i was hoping to get a few ideas in the back on my mind to ask him about.
erm i%26#039;ll just tell ya abit about me incase it helps... I do alot of sports so i tend to spend alot of time outside getting hot and sweaty... i do shower twice a day and i wash my face with soap and sometimes some wierd spot cream after heavy excercise. not alot more i can say apart from i have a relatively healthy diet and i drink quite alot of water ( maybe not as much as i%26#039;m suppost to but i dont know )
Well thats about it... I%26#039;m just looking for a few ideas which i can suggest to the doctor which will hopefully finish my acne problem once and for all. thanks for your help :)|||Has the doctor about salicyclic and glycolic acid and how the ingredients work to clean out the pores and work towrds a cleaner face.
I picked up all the info in a book at;

Instead try this new stuff that Neutrogena came out with called SkiniD. It%26#039;s a personalized acne soultion. You can go to their website skinid.com to take their evaulation they have and see what products you get. I%26#039;ve been using it only for 2 weeks and I%26#039;m already seeing improvements in my acne. Good luck!|||i think there are some people that are just unlucky when it comes to acne. i think it is a genetic thing- some people inherit skin problems, and some don%26#039;t. have you ever tried that pro-active stuff they advertise of tv? i have no idea if it works, but it isn%26#039;t that expensive, you might give it a shot. i think if the prescription stuff didn%26#039;t work, then i kinda doubt anything else will. you may just have to wait till your teen years are over. good luck,|||Hey kid...if your acne is moderate I would first try proactiv. It worked well for me for a couple of years....it is $60 a month but you can stretch the bottles out and make it last twice as long. It might be cheaper now. If you have health insurance and your acne is severe you could ask for accutane. I took two courses of it and it worked well while I was on it...I honestly think it works better for guys, though. I knew three guys who took it in high school and it cleared up their skin perfectly for good. The best topical I%26#039;ve had prescribed was Tazorac, but it is very harsh on your skin and you have to use it for months to see results. I know acne sucks, but it looks worse to you than it does to others. I hope you find something that works. |||Unfortunately there is no cure, its due to hormones, the best treatment is from your doctor, you can ask about dermabrasion for scars, however either you will grow out of it , or it will be a problem in to adult hood. |||use any product with benzoyl peroxide (oxy clean face wash, clearasil acne cream) or anything with sulphur (DDF products for men and women). both of these destroy acne bacteria- honestly, the proactive line also works pretty good and it uses both bp and sulphur.
stay away from acutane though!!! it is so bad for you, and if your doc. suggests it, tell him to give you something else. it will clear your skin, but at great cost to your body. people have even died from using it.
considering you are 15, hormones are mostly to blame, and it may take a few years for them to balance out. also consider going to an esthetician instead of a dermatologist. a derm. will just keep handing you creams and other junk, while an esthetician will get to the root of the problem and help you find a skin care routine that works best for you.
good luck!
